No Thanks, I Don't Smoke....

Sometimes I have a hard time being humble......Alright I'll admit it: most doorframes aren't wide enough for me to fit my enormous head through. So when I need to be "taken down a notch," I head out for what some of us local XC masochists call "Tour De Parks." It's a 5-6 hour ride, all within the city limits, of different mountain bike destinations - but forget the car - you pedal from each to the next. Routes can vary, but see if you can follow along...

Any time you can get a sunburn in March, in Colorado Springs, consider yourself lucky. So it was with the theme from Top Gun playing in my head that I recited lines from Miami Vice and pondered just what, exactly, is buffalo sauce. Click the picture here for the full-screen version.

Lunch on the bike.

It's no Chipotle, but it'll do. Don't be fooled by my confident demeanor and pretty pictures -- this one had me returning home on fumes with my tongue hanging over the handlebars.

The hard part at this point was that home was in between me and Destination 5 here. You try and stay motivated after 5+ hours. A couch and a burrito sound pretty good by this point...

By the end the legs were nothing more than shredded chicken. The day's tally: just over 6 hours, 57 miles on the mountain bike, 4700 calories burned, 4800 vertical ft climbed. Only one thing to do after a ride like today:

Everyone's got their chains to break, and I am no exception........

That's up to interpretation. Although I will say, if spring doesn't show up soon, I'll be relegated to a steady stream of barbituates.

Even worse than doing coke, he's drinking a Heineken. (OK, that's not actually worse than doing coke. Kids - stay in school and don't do drugs!)

1 was the Garden-- a quick loop but I always hit it up on my way to the Canyon or Barr. 3 is P-Park, yes, and 4 is the AFA. 5 would be Ute. Niiiice - you must be a local.

ha ha... rode from here to the AFA and around falcon... it was in good shape except for the snow bank I stuck my face in.
