Crankworx Colorado.....Part Deux...

The Super-D event is a strange beast. Quite simple in format, if not a bit quirky, yet it is a symphony of complexity when it comes to execution.

Every competitor lines up about a hundred yards away from their bike on a start line, at the top of the mountain. (Super-D = Super Downhill) At the gun, it's a literal sprint to your bike, and the first one to the bottom of the course wins. Talk about aggressive - you try and pass people on a course like this....

These things are basically won within the first half-mile, when a sprint to the singletrack provides the pole-position for the decent. And after 2 hours of racing all-out the day before, my legs were about as fresh as a 3 wk old banana.

Studies show that nueromuscular coordination in cyclists can be up to 35% greater than non-cyclists, and even greater in mountain bicyclists. After watching this, you'll see why...

Are you ready to descend 1600ft on a bike in just over 12 minutes? Buckle up......

Viewer tip: Keep your eyes focused at the top of the screen for best viewing. The helmet-cam was aimed just a bit low and there are no redo's in a race like this. Oh, and turn up your speakers for max effect........results posted at the end....
